Comment by Lela S. Gissendanner on June 11, 2012 at 3:38pm Hello All,
I am currently a graduate student pursuing a degree in Human Services. I am interested in working with women who are survivors of domestic abuse as well as those infected, affected and effected by HIV/AIDS.
I have begun a group here on socialworkhelper.com called Yearning to Educate Somebody. It is another avenue I am taking to raise awareness about HIV/AIDS and the more than 1.2 million people living with HIV in the U.S. today.
All are welcome!! I look forward to networking and making connections.
Comment by Kelsie Reynolds on May 29, 2012 at 12:42am Hi all! I'm Kelsie and I'm a future MSW student. I came across the site via an online article and wanted to join to network and stay current on issues in the field. I'll be moving back to NC at the end of this year and will be applying to the MSW program at UNC shortly thereafter. My primary interest is working with the military and issues affecting active and retired soldiers and their families (PTSD in particular). Social work will be a big career switch for me, but it's something I'm extremely passionate about and have always felt called to do. Very excited to hear insights about life as an MSW student -- it seems a bit daunting at first (especially the field work portion!) when you're a beginner...but I've been assured it's not as bad as it seems ;) Hope to get to know everyone and looking forward to your insights!

Comment by Sarah on May 9, 2012 at 5:23pm Hi! Im Sarah and Im at the end of my 2nd year in the BA (Hons) Social Work degree. As a mature student I started my course with a wide variety of experiences, most recently working with looked after children. I have just completed a placement in mental health services, which has always been an area of interest for me and which I have acknowledged could be the one field that may direct my attention away from childrens services - the jury is still out at this point!
